Stuck in my driveway

Pros & Cons of living in the country...here's one of the cons:

As I left for work today, I didn't realize my driveway had drifted shut...until it was too late! I got stuck halfway down the driveway in about a foot and a half of snow. I had to leave my car in the driveway and call for help or a ride. As I waited, I took this picture.

Earlier today we tried unsuccessfully to get unstuck by shoveling the snow away and placing rubber mats close to the tires. We finally just got the car out by bringing in several big buckets of gravel for traction. Now we are exhausted.

I will be so glad, when this blowing snow is gone. Ugh, what a day! Hopefully I can get the driveway plowed tomorrow and hopefully it won't drift shut again. If you live in a warm climate, see what you are missing!

I know it is a pain in the butt, John. We've had more than usual, but nothing like you guys.

Bummer. Glad you lived to tell us about it. ;o)

John, if it helps, I've recently seen ants busy at work cutting leaves in my neck of the woods. That means they are gearing up for the Wintertime. When that happens, and you may know it, Summer is past its peak, especially here in the South.

Cheer up and enjoy that glass of red.

@kenju, yes it sure is a pain in the butt (especially over Valentine's Day, but we were still open and delivering)! Actually I don't mind the snow, I just hate though when it blows these drifts!

@Dr. Monkey, oh I lived through it alright. It really takes a lot out of your though, both physically and mentally!

@Reality Observer, I have no idea what winter is like down there! Hopefully you don't get snow though. Cheers!

If it makes you feel any better...yesterday I heard a Robin, loud and clear outside. It was such a great sound to hear! I think Spring is right around the corner. Hang in there. :-)

@Mary Ellen, that does make me feel better! A Robin is a sure sign of Spring--just around the corner. I've seen all kinds of birds here, but no Robins yet :(

How about a Hot climate. Sunshine, palm trees, and tons of Snow Birds.

It sounds as though I picked a perfect year to move south. I am so happy I did.

@Allen, that sounds good to me! And you definitely picked the right year to move south! See what you're missing LOL!

You brought back memories with the gravel under the wheels for traction.

When I first started teaching here in Southern California, I felt apprehensive because I was carrying a pail of sand in the trunk as I did in Minnesota. Then I would remember, "Hey, its January and it is not going to snow!" It is 75 degrees out!
