In Fort Wayne, Ind., in the 1930s and 50s, Mayor Harry Baals was very popular. But city leaders won't name a building after him. The issue is pronunciation. The former mayor pronounced his last name "balls." His descendants have since changed it to "bales." (NPR)
What's YOUR opinion? Personally, I see no problem naming the building after the former Mayor. The people in Ft. Wayne seem a little uptight! Just sayin!

Suddenly I'm an eight-year-old boy, giggling at that.
"Where do you work?
Hairy Balls."
I sort of agree with them. It's just too funny.
I happen to love hairy balls.
Harry Balls and his buddy ... Dick Trickle... remember him? (Hint: former NASCAR driver)
I'm with you John, I think that his name should not be the deciding factor for not honoring someone who contributed to a community. I also think the name is cute ;)
Hi john. I haven't been here in awhile it's great to visit some of my favorite blogs and bloggers again. I cracked up when I read this post! I think it would be great to walk into a building with the name "Hairy Balls". Imagine the tricks you could play on unsuspecting family and friends visiting from out of town.
"John abuzz" has been included in this weeks A Sunday Drive. I hope this helps to attract even more new visitors here.

Hello friends! I know it's been far too long. I just want you all to know I appreciate the comments very much. I am going to try my best to get back in to blogging more often.
Glad to know everyone seemed to get a chuckle out of this post. Maybe the town will change it's mind in the future.
