Man-kiss ad isn't gay-OK with CBS

Man-kiss ad isn't gay-OK with CBS - NYPOST.com

CBS wants to keep one team from scoring on Super Bowl Sunday. Click the news link above for the latest.

Super Bowl XLIV is next Sunday, a week from Sunday. A lot of people watch, frankly just to watch the commercials. This year there are some controversies. Tim Tebow's anti-abortion ad, and now there's another one that people will be talking about. It's an ad for a gay dating site called ManCrunch. On the heels of the network's decision that advocacy ads are acceptable, ManCrunch said CBS has not rejected it's ad, which it's still considering (yeah right). Watch the ad and see if there is anything to worry about.

But CBS does plan to air this controversial anti-abortion ad:

Stumble Upon Toolbar

I think it's funny, but I know if they play it they'll get a lot of negative feedback.

What are they afraid of? The people who want to run everyone else's lives.
It won't go away. Get used to it.
Live and let live.
Hypocrites - they show enough violence on tv.

If they broadcast it, it will certainly be the most talked about TV commercial of all time.

I can just hear the wingnuts now... "What about the children!!"

I give the commercial a 5% chance of running.

John,
sorry this keyboard sticks.
what I said was, I ain't gay, and I am pro-choice, neither of these ads bother me, hell everyone has a right to voice their opinion, and what better place than a super bowl ad.

In the ad, Tebow's mother recounts the story of how she was urged to terminate her pregnancy while in the Philippines because she came down with an illness. However, abortion has been illegal in the Philippines since 1870, the center points out, with no exceptions to the law. Abortion is "deeply stigmatized in the Philippines," Center for Reproductive Rights President Nancy Northup writes. "Given this context, it raises questions about whether physicians in the Philippines would have urged a married pregnant woman to illegally terminate her pregnancy in 1987."

The ad will never air because if the religious right doesn't want to see sinners and they don't want to acknowledge that like most people, homosexuals are good, kind, and respectful.

On the other hand, it might gather them all together to "Pray the Gay" out of the ad. Can't you just see that praying huddle of humanity at half-time. :)

John, this "controversy" should never have been, and I also blogged about Tim (eye black) Tebow and this subject as well.
There is a time and place for everything and this isn't the time for anything political.
Nobody should force their views on others, especially in religion.
This too shall pass... enjoy the game.

From what I hear, the decision has already been made and the gay commercial won't be played.

I'm sure you won't like what I have to say about it, but I'll say it anyway (did you expect less from me? ;-) ) Ok..I saw the ad for the gay dating service and thought it was lame and really amateurish. I can't help but wonder if they tried to do this for one reason, the controversy will allow their ad to be played by YouTube all over the Internet and will receive more views than if it was on the SuperBowl. From what I hear, CBS said they could not get a guarantee that the company had the money to pay for the ad...which would seem to point to the idea that the dating service got exactly what they wanted...free national advertising.

Regarding the Tebow ad...I support it. If there are groups that are anti-abortion, let them put up the big bucks and run an ad (one that is done with dignity and suitable for a family audience.) From what I've seen from other pro-choice groups, they are pissed at NOW for making a fuss about the Tebow ad and said that NOW is putting pro-choice groups in a bad light. If one is truly pro-choice they shouldn't be upset if someone speaks of making their choice, life. The ad does nothing more or less than that.

If CBS turned down a pro-choice ad, I would say that is hypocritical. But to try to tie the gay ad in by using the pro-life as an example...it makes absolutely no sense because one thing has nothing to do with the other, it's apples and oranges.

I'd say that if there was a gay/lesbian group that wants to put up an ad for the next SB, go for it! I could only suggest that it be done more professionally than the ad that was turned down. It looked like it was done by a bunch of 4th graders.

Oh...and regarding all the hoopla that the pro abortion activists are using to "de-bunk" the claims of Tebow's mother is absolutely ridiculous. There was nothing illegal about the doctor recommending an abortion in the Philippians, he just was not allowed to perform the abortion there. He could have just told her to go back to the US and have the abortion where it was legal. It wasn't an emergency abortion that she needed, it was suggested because the medication she was taking could have caused birth defects (which it obviously didn't). There was time for her to get home and have the abortion if she chose to do so.

To me, spreading the rumor in order to paint Mrs. Tebow as a liar shows me the desperation of pro-abortion groups to distract attention from the message...choice.

i'm disappointed that those guys aren't even really kissing! if they are gonna pay high-dollar for an ad, they could at least get some really hotties and really have them kiss!
