Hi John,
Well I can't say I am a Vanessa fan, but I certainly do like the producers and songwriters. Hope you are having a nice holiday weekend. I am curious about your work. Did you get into it by on the job training or did you go to school to learn? I think floral design is so interesting, I have thought about taking classes just for my own personal interest. Just wanted to know your opinion. Thanks

Hi Rae, I have always been a big fan of Vanessa's! It's been a hectic week; so much work! We can sell as much as we can get made for Memorial Day...lots of cemetery decorations. People go all out here decorating graves. I worked until 7 one night, then 10pm, and Thurs. til midnight. I am exhausted.

I started delivering flowers at age 16, and during the slow time I was taught to design a little at a time by the owner. She was like a 2nd mother to me! She said I was a natural, and I was eager to learn more and more.

It's really a long story, but I learned all the basics on the job, and then took every design class I could for many years. I learned a lot at convention seminars and wholesaler's shows and I traveled a lot in IL, MO, & IN for advanced classes and design competitions.

If your local college offers some basic classes, I would recommend that. I would be leary of any "design school," unless you're starting a career path. You can learn so much now on the internet!

I don't know this guy, but he can teach you a lot for FREE with his free online videos! What's the catch? It's covered with ads and I think he also sells some products. Strange, I couldn't find his bio, so I am suspicious of his real work history. Anyway I think its www.theflowergod.com, if not you can google and find his site. You can google "how to make a bow" and find lots of free info.

Come to think of it, with the internet, I don't think you need to take any classes just for your own personal interest.

You can email me anytime, I will be glad to answer any other questions you might have.

Have a great weekend!
