Fireflies

It's been out for awhile now, but all of a sudden it is getting heavy air play both locally and on XM Radio's 20 on 20 station. It's a catchy song that I like and makes me think of the days, when I was a kid. We didn't have a lot to do and would catch fireflies (we called them lightning bugs) and put them in a mason jar with holes punched in the lid. Did any of you do that? As far as the video goes, would someone please tell me what it's all about! Do you like? Yay or Nay?

Fireflies by Owl City
Album: Ocean Eyes [released]

Lyrics:
You Would Not Believe Your Eyes
If Ten Million Fireflies
Lit Up The World As I Fell Asleep
Cause They Fill The Open Air
And Leave Teardrops Everywhere
You'd Think me Rude
But I Would Just Stand And stare
I'd Like To make Myself Believe That Planet earth Turns Slowly
It's Hard To Say That I'd Rather Stay Awake When I'm Asleep
Cause Everything Is Never As It Seems

Cause I'd Get A Thousand Hugs
From Ten Thousand Lightning Bugs
As They Tried To Teach Me How To Dance
A Foxtrot Above My head
A Sock hop Beneath My Bed
A Disco Ball Is Just hanging By A thread
I'd Like To make Myself Believe That Planet earth Turns Slowly
It's Hard To Say That I'd Rather Stay Awake When I'm Asleep
Cause Everything Is Never As It Seems
When I Fall Asleep
Leave My Door Open Just A crack
Please Take Me Away From Here
Cause I Feel Like Such An Insomniac
Please Take Me Away From Here
Why Do I Tire Of Counting Sheep
Please Take Me Away From Here
When I'm far Too Tired To Fall Asleep
To Ten Million Fireflies
I'm Weird Cause I Hate Goodbyes
I Got Misty Eyes As They Said Farewell
But I'll Know Where Several Are
If My Dreams Get Real Bizarre
Cause I Saved A Few And I Keep Them In A Jar
I'd Like To make Myself Believe That Planet earth Turns Slowly
It's Hard To Say That I'd Rather Stay Awake When I'm Asleep
Cause Everything Is Never As It Seems
When I Fall Asleep
I'd Like To make Myself Believe That Planet earth Turns Slowly
It's Hard To Say That I'd Rather Stay Awake When I'm Asleep
Cause Everything Is Never As It Seems
When I Fall Asleep
I'd Like To make Myself Believe That Planet earth Turns Slowly
It's Hard To Say I'd Rather Stay Awake When I'm Asleep
Because My Dreams Are Bursting At The Seams

I do like the song, although I prefer natural voices. I need a piano/organ like that one!

Nearly every summer evening I can remember when I was a child had some time spent chasing lightning bugs with a mason jar! I think it's universal.

There is something very wistful about that song. The video makes me think of lost childhood and unfullfilled promises.

Perhaps this is simply because the wind is blowing and the night is without stars.

Nice song. As far as video games I will say YAY as long as its World of Warcraft or Roller Coaster Tycoon 3.

As a teenager, I never got into video games, I thought they were boring, but not days, they are super fun and you can get so lost in them. =o)

@Mahmood, you're welcome. Ok, I'll vote for your blog.

@kenju, yeah would'nt a piano/organ like that one be nice. And here I thought catching lightning bugs was just something poor country kids did LOL.

@plainolebob, strange lyrics for sure. I wonder if somebody had a dream and then wrote it into a song.

@Maria, I think you are right on the money! I like your interpretation.

@Allen, oh I know about people getting hooked on games, AHEM, just look at me on facebook LOL! But hey I have retired relatives too on there playing games day and night, so I don't feel too bad!
