Snowy day on the farm

Today was a very cold and snowy day in central Illinois. I took all of these photos from inside, while looking out the windows. Here's a view peeking out one of my bedroom windows this morning facing north.

Here's a view from a living room window facing west with the bird feeders and barn in the background. The Dwarf Apple trees are visible along the drifted driveway between the birdfeeders and the barn.

Late this afternoon it was snowing very hard as seen in this photo looking out a window to the north.

Right before dark it stopped snowing and I caught these great photos of some English Sparrows at the bird feeders. Cardinals and other birds also use the feeders.

It was (and still is) bitter cold-- about 18 degrees Fahrenheit, but the birds didn't seem to mind. We got about four inches of snow from last night until today. With all the snow and heavy cloud cover I was unable to do much on the internet until tonight.

Wow, all that white snow is beautiful to look at through my foreign eyes, haha! But it looks a bit gloomy with all the white going on so everyone stays at home instead, snuggling, bonding with their loved ones and other stuff, haha!

@HalfCrazy, It has been gloomy for like a week, but the sun is supposed to shine tomorrow. Yep, you're right, most people stay home--mainly because there seems to be a shortage of snow plows on the roads. If you were here, we would have a snowball fight LOL!

It looks beautiful, but you can keep it there. Okay, John?

@kenju, it is beautiful, but I hope it is the only big snow we get! I'll try to keep it up here, but you know it started way up north and we had rain first. Then the snow finally swooped south and got us! At least if it snows in your area, it will surely melt a lot sooner!

It looks the same in Minneapolis. I still can't believe we got all this storm. I never made it home for Christmas because of it.

OOOH! I love you photos! What beautiful scenery! It looks like the setting for a great day of popcorn and movies around the fire. LOL.

@Michael Rivers, I bet you got even more snow up your way. Let's hope it will be our last snow storm (yeah right)! I bet SD got a ton of snow! I'm glad you didn't try to drive in it and end up stranded. Thank God for telephones, huh!

Brrrr. Glad it's you getting all that snow and not me. ;o)

It looks perfectly wonderful to this Aussie bird...

@lavonne, I'm so glad you love the pics! It does kinda remind me of a Christmas card LOL. And yes definitely a good day to sit by a warm fire place watching movies and eating popcorn, which is exactly what we did this afternoon!

@Dr. Monkey, I hear you already had your snow the other day. Hopefully it will be a warmer winter with less snow for all of us.

@heatherbelle, so glad you like! It looks wonderful yes, but so cold. I think I'd rather be in the land down under ;-)

Whoa, that's cold. I love the view from your living room window. I'll bet that's gorgeous in the summertime too.

Stay warm...!

Snowing where I am too! :) Not sure if that is entirely a good thing though.

Now THAT'S WINTER and that's how it is supposed to be here in Illinois.
Great photos John.

@Jo, cold indeed! That is a pretty view all year round, but very bright in the afternoons. I am staying warm --I wear a hoodie in the house most of the time with the hood on. I live in a big old drafty farm house!

@Colin, hey glad to hear from you. It's not a good thing (all this snow)! Maybe on Christmas, but it came after Christmas here!

@Jim, looks pretty huh? I bet in the city you see lots of piles of dirty snow! Glad you liked my photos! Hey, my cousin in Wyoming said it looks like we have more snow than they do!

Sorry John, but better you than me. We've had just a bit of snow and ice here in southern Ohio. But I know we'll get our fair share eventually. Think warm thoughts.

@Larry Ohio, gee thanks! I'm sure you'll get plenty of snow before the season is up. The snow isn't so bad, is it? I don't like it being 2 degrees though and even colder wind chill...brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
